THE CHIMNEY COTTAGE is a cosy, self catering holiday house in Lamlash on the beautiful Scottish Isle of Arran. It is situated at the end of a historic, sandstone terrace built by The Duke of Montrose for his estate workers. It has been updated to a high standard over the years and now provides a well decorated and stylish base from which to explore the island.
The ground floor comprises kitchen, bathroom, dining room and lounge and is connected to the two bedrooms upstairs by an imposing staircase.
Lamlash has a lovely front green next to the beach. There are four bar/bistro/restaurants all of a good standard as well as a very popular café. = Chimney Cottage, 1 Murray Place, Lamlash, Isle of Arran KA27 8NH Show/hide route from Brodick ferry terminal on map.
You can sail to Arran with Caledonian MacBrayne into the port of Brodick from Ardrossan or from Kintyre to Lochranza. Ardrossan is only a short drive from both Glasgow International and Prestwick Airports.
By car – For the main ferry route from Ardrossan Harbour it is recommendable to reserve a place for your car, especially during the high season and on major holidays. This can be done at www.calmac.co.uk , the ferry operator’s website.
Foot passengers – can purchase their tickets at the pier terminal building without pre-booking.
After coming off the ferry in Brodick you will see a garage on the left just before the junction with the main road. Turn left on to the main road and follow the road over the hill and down into Lamlash.
When you come to the sea follow the road as it bends to the right and continue on through the village past the Co-op. A little further on you'll go over a small bridge and see the Fire Station on the left. Shortly thereafter there is a row of old, red sandstone cottages on the right. Chimney cottage is the first of these.
Buses on Arran – The island has regular bus services. The 323 will take you from the ferry terminal in Brodick to a bus stop very close to Chimney Cottage. For timetables please check Arran-SPT.
